Engineering and quantity approximation
Calculator outputs, including tons, cubic yards, square yards, base aggregate, and sealcoat gallons and pails, are mathematical approximations. They use standard industry planning values: 145 lb/ft³ for compacted hot mix asphalt (the FHWA Federal Lands Highway estimating figure), 110 lb per square yard per inch of compacted depth, and the Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association two-coat specification for sealcoat.
Those values are for preliminary planning only. Real mix density, compaction, subgrade condition, and site geometry vary, and an estimate from this site does not substitute for an on-site civil engineering assessment or a contractor's site survey.
Cost and bid tabulation disclaimer
Material and installed cost ranges on this site reflect state DOT liquid binder indices, checked county and municipal public bid tabulations, and published national cost guides, as of the date stated on each page. The last full check of the price data was October 11, 2026. Regional and state figures marked as estimates are our own estimates, with the method stated where they appear.
Actual local quotes vary with haul distance, plant minimum charges, subgrade excavation, drainage work, permits, and regional labor rates. Always get a current written quote from your local supplier or paving contractor before you order material or sign a contract.
